KliK Foundation – Domestic Compensation Projects

Following the entry into force of the revised CO2 law, a compensation obligation has applied in Switzerland for fuel importers since 2013 and will continue through to the end of 2020. They are obliged to compensate domestically for a portion of the CO2 emissions that are caused by fuels for traffic. The KliK Foundation is responsible for realisation of domestic compensation.

myclimate has many years of experience in the development of Swiss projects. Based on the requirements and guidelines of international climate protection projects, myclimate has already been developing Swiss climate protection projects for the voluntary compensation market since 2007. The first emission reductions according to Federal Office for the Environment (BAFU) guidelines come from a myclimate climate protection project.

Specifically for KliK, myclimate is developing domestic climate protection programmes and projects in line with BAFU/BFE guidelines (BFE = Swiss Federal Office of Energy) and is supporting the project owners and implementers through the process, right up to the issuing of certificates. myclimate provides support for the project development as well as the purchase and sale of official certificates.

KliK is currently the main buyer of domestic certificates (CO2 certificates) certified by the government (BAFU/BFE). KliK took over from the Climate Cent Foundation, for which myclimate has already successfully arranged projects prior to 2013.
